- חֲגַרch. sam(חגר I to encircle; to gird). Y.Ned.III, beg.37d ח׳ עליה מותנא tied a rope around it, i. e. made the law more stringent. Bab. Ib. 49b וחוֹגְרַנִי צדעי (Rashi: וחוגר אני, Ar. וה׳) and I had my forehead tied up.
